Gavin Creel, “Hello, Dolly!” Like the Tony Award-winning star of the Broadway musical. And “Hair” died on Monday in Manhattan, his partner confirmed.
He was 48 years old.
The young actor’s cause of death was metastatic melanotic peripheral nerve sheath sarcoma, an aggressive form of cancer that he was diagnosed with in July.
Born in Findlay, Ohio, on April 18, 1976, Creel got his big break on Broadway in 2002, when he played Jimmy in the musical “Thoroughly Modern Millie” with Sutton Foster at the Marquis Theatre.
Having a special interest in musical comedy, he starred in “La Cage aux Folles,” “Hair,” “The Book of Mormon,” “She Loves Me,” “Waitress,” “Hello, Dolly!” starred in. and most recently “Into the Woods.”
Creel sang “Hello, Dolly!” Won a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical in 2017 for his performance as Cornelius Hackle in Starring Bette Midler.
