They Nosh-Stalgic Classics.
It seems like with every new item that fast-food chains add to their menus, they also take out a fan favorite.
Just this week, Taco Bell announced that some outlets Crunchwrap can be discontinued and other beloved breakfast burritos.
In honor of these retired eateries, online casino Spin Genie has ranked the top 10 holiday fast foods that people miss the most, Including McDonald's McRibChipotle's carne asada and Domino's Brooklyn-style pizza.
Maybe this countdown will inspire these oil traders to bring them back once and for all.
To find out which canceled food items left the biggest holes in customers’ hearts (no sarcasm), Spin Genie analyzed Google search data to find out which discontinued items people searched for the most between June 2023 and July 2024.
McDonald's McRib ranked first with 327,100 searches.
The divisive snack was a pressed pork slab dipped in BBQ sauce and surrounded by sandwich buns. First added to the menu in 1981, it was removed in 1985 but brought back in 1989 – then removed again in 2005.
And while Nosh periodically embarks on comeback tours — most recently making a heroic Return to Select Outlets In 2023 – it will be a mainstay on McDonald's menus in Germany and Luxembourg only.
The second-most-missed item was Chipotle's Carne Asada (132,680 searches), a hand-crafted steak filling that debuted in 2019 and was a huge hit with customers before being discontinued the following year.
Like the McRib, this tempting rarity will appear at select stores from time to time, but fans think they should add it to the full-time roster.
Domino's food may seem like a snack-release in New York City, but not so much in the rest of the world. In third place was the blue-and-red pizza chain's Brooklyn Style Pizza ($127,600), six slices of pie topped with mozzarella and provolone.
Pies' famous jersey was retired this year, 18 years after its initial launch.
It was later replaced by New York-style pizza, which was similar but with a thicker crust, a change that was not well received. Many online pie-hards,
Taco Bell's immortal song “Enchirito” came in second with 110,600 searches.
This snack consisted of a soft flour tortilla filled with spicy beef, beans and chopped onions, then wrapped and garnished with red sauce.
It’s then topped with melted, shredded cheddar cheese, just like an enchilada.
The item first came to the market in the 1970s and lasted until 2013, when it was discontinued.
Many fans were so upset by the loss of the Enchirito that they signed a petition calling for Taco Bell to reinstate it.
The item was also brought back for a limited time in 2022, when the Tex-Mex chain asked fans to vote on a menu item to revive.
Rounding out the top five was McDonald's Fruit 'n Yogurt Parfait ($106,800), a healthier dessert from the chain that comes in at just 150 calories.
First introduced in 2000, the item was removed in 2022, and the chain has no plans to bring it back.
