Travel influencer Aanvi Kamdar falls 350 feet to death

Travel influencer Aanvi Kamdar tragically died Tuesday after falling over 300 feet while filming at a waterfall in India.

The 27-year-old globetrotter, who worked as an accountant but regularly documented her travels on Instagram under the handle @theglocaljournal, had been visiting the Kumbhe waterfall in Maharashtra with seven friends, the Hindustan Times reported.

While filming, the Mumbai resident lost her footing and fell 350 feet into a rocky gorge.

Her friends alerted the authorities, who dispatched multiple rescue teams.

Unfortunately, their efforts were hindered by the inclement weather with rescuer Shantanu Kuveskar noting that Kamdar “couldn’t be spotted initially,” the Economic Times Of India reported.

Eventually, they managed to locate Kamdar and hoist her out of the gorge using a stretcher attached to rappelling ropes.

“Six rescuers climbed down the hill, while another 50 assisted atop the hillock,” said Kuveskar, adding that the adventurer was responsive both during the rescue and en route to the hospital despite being on a ventilator.

Unfortunately, despite the medics’ best efforts, Kamdar passed away during treatment.

Before she died, the self-described “travel detective” had amassed over 278,000 followers on Instagram.

In her final post uploaded a day before her death, Kamdar listed five cheap and uncongested spots in India that tourists could visit “during the monsoons.”

The influencer’s fans were devastated over her passing.

“I can’t believe it. This is deeply saddening and has kept me up all night,” lamented fellow travel guru Aakanksha Monga. “She was one of the kindest people I knew.”

“I came here to share my deepest condolences with all of Aanvi’s friends and family,” wrote another globetrotting influencer, named Tanya Khanijow. “It is really heartbreaking to say the least. Please know that in this tough time, the entire travel community stands by you”
