What a prick.
A traveler was horrified after accidentally touching a needle he found on his hotel room bed.
Anonymous man posts his shocking story to reddit Last Friday, shared a photo of a bent needle and asked people to identify what it might have been used for.
“What is this? The bedsheet at the hotel I’m staying in had a metal tip stuck to it and it scratched the shit out of me,” the tourist wrote.
He said he was lying in bed in an undisclosed hotel when the needle “scratched” him.
Commenters said the object appeared to be a disposable insulin pen needle cap and stressed that the person should seek medical attention.
The needle in the photo was bent, so it is unclear whether the object actually pierced his skin, but the man sought medical advice nonetheless.
“I’m fine,” the person later wrote, updating concerned Reddit users. “My in-laws and sister are doctors so I am in touch with them about this as well.”
according to AMA Journal of EthicsAnyone who is pricked by a used needle should immediately clean the area with soap and water and report the accident to medical professionals to complete an exposure report sheet.
The exposure source for HIV, HBV, and HCV should be evaluated and if the patient is not available for testing, the possibility of infection should be evaluated based on the community served by the hospital.
