Travis Kelce is going to get his wish.
Nearly three months after expressing his desire to appear in “Happy Gilmore 2,” Adam Sandler told Jimmy Fallon on “The Tonight Show” on Tuesday that the three-time Super Bowl champion will be in the movie.
“You know Travis Kelce wants to be a part of this,” Fallon told Sandler.
“Yes, yes, yes,” Sandler replied. “Travis, he mentioned it, so we have a nice something for Travis. He’s gonna come by. He’s a very nice guy, you guys would love him in real life. What a big, handsome guy. Funny and cool as hell.”
Back in May, Kelce said on his “New Heights” podcast with brother Jason Kelce that he’d do anything to be involved in the sequel to the 1996 flick and that he’s a “huge fan” of Sandler’s, though he conceded at the time that him appearing in the film was a “conspiracy theory.”
“I didn’t even know there was a job opening for ‘Happy Gilmore 2.’ If there is, I’ll be a f–king extra,” the Chiefs tight end said. “Anything to get around ‘Happy Gilmore,’ an Adam Sandler film or set, count me in. I’ll do anything in the movie. I’ll be part of it any way I possibly can.”
Earlier Tuesday, fans turned out in droves at the Hyatt Regency Morristown in New Jersey, where the movie is being filmed, for an open casting call for extras.
Already a huge NFL star, Kelce’s popularity has skyrocketed over the last year since he began dating Taylor Swift, and it’s giving him a chance to perform on television away from the field.
A one-time host of “Saturday Night Live,” Kelce is set to appear in his first major movie, a buddy-cop comedy called “Loose Cannons,” according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The 34-year-old is also set to host the upcoming Amazon Prime Video show “Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?” an offshoot of “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?”
Kelce’s brother Jason, the longtime Eagles center who retired from the NFL earlier this year, is also making moves on television as he has joined ESPN as an NFL analyst.
