The No. 1 most popular male dog name in 2024 is Charlie, beating 10-year-old leader Max to the top spot for the second year in a row. Milo is the most popular name for a male cat, overtaking Oliver, who held the top spot for five years in a row.

Cats are also being named after foods, especially provolone, which is up 509% for cats over the last year. Other popular food-related kitty names this year include Casserole, Babybel, Burger, Burrito, Goat, Maple Syrup, Dumpling, Loaf, and Pepperoni.
