The outrage on the left continued Thursday with New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez blaming sexism for Kamala Harris’s presidential election loss — as she warned it would be the same in America under “fascist” Donald Trump. There will be a “scary” time.
“This is going to be a very, very, very, challenging difficult time for millions of people in this country. It’s going to be a very scary time,” AOC said in detailFuneral Instagram video from her home kitchen.
“I’m not here to tell you what we’re about to experience.”
Ocasio-Cortez – who Stumped across Country for the Kamala Harris-Tim Walz ticket – said the results are a bitter pill for Democrats and leftists who claim to be fighting for working-class Americans.
Trump won the presidency with the support of “A lot of working class,” he said.
The congresswoman, who represents parts of the Bronx and Queens, said in her dismaying assessment, “This is a huge blow to a fascist with as much support from the working class as has ever happened in history.”
He did not blame Harris for the defeat, noting that the Vice President was given the difficult responsibility of preparing a campaign in a matter of months.
AOC claimed Harris likely lost some votes because of deeply entrenched gender bias in the US – which has never elected a woman president – that goes beyond ideology or party affiliation.
“If Kamala Harris had been Tom Harris, we might have a different outcome today,” he said.
In a reluctant praise, the former waitress even said that Trump attracted people’s attention by vowing to cut taxes on tips and Social Security benefits.
“It complicates things for the Democrats to say that we should support the working class,” he said.
True or not, AOC said Trump attracted people’s attention by promising “no tax on tips, no tax on Social Security,” which troubled Democrats.
“It doesn’t matter if he’s lying. He is saying it clearly. That’s what he’s saying,” she said, who mentioned her background as a waitress.
For example, in the long term, Democrats should work on a specific agenda for lower-income and middle-class Americans by raising the minimum wage and lowering the age for Medicare.
If Republicans take control of both the House and Senate, it will be difficult to stop Trump, which seems likely. He will be more powerful in the White House than during his previous tenure because he is better prepared,” AOC said.
“When he says he’s going to do something, trust him,” she said.
At one point, he said temperatures would rise because Trump rolled back or slowed down climate change initiatives.
“We will have to deal with the consequences throughout our lives,” he said.
He also said the billionaire class – specifically naming Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos – would wield more influence with Trump.
Additionally, the AOC is concerned that Trump is giving vaccine skeptic Robert F. Kennedy Jr. influence over federal health regulators and vaccine policy. Kennedy has talked about removing fluoride from drinking water.
“We are talking about vaccines being completely removed from the market,” he said.
Leftist Democrats said liberals should unite instead of attacking each other.
He said now is the time for people to trust each other, and urged supporters to get to know neighbors and befriend them if they haven’t already done so.
“We have to build community. we have no choice. Our choice is to keep fighting,
He said.
“We cannot give up.”
