A New York Republican and Trump diehard claims she was barred from entering Citi Field until she took off her “Make America Great Again” hat — and she’s now calling on all Americans to “wake up” ahead of the November election.
Aura Moody and her friend Taisha were both wearing MAGA hats when they arrived at the venue for the Mets game Wednesday night, along with other members of the Queens Village Republican Club.
They had just made it past security when a Citi Field staffer told them they were not allowed inside with their Trump gear on, she said.
“The United States of America is no longer the vehicle of freedom and tolerance. I am living under a communist regime where our freedoms are trampled upon…that was the first thought that came to my mind,” Moody, 64, told The Post of her shock at being asked to remove her hat.
Moody said she tried to invoke her First Amendment rights multiple times but was told by the staffer that the MAGA cap was “too political” and she needed to take it off.
Moody and Taisha – who are both on the board of the Queens Village Republican Club – only agreed to take their hats off because they were worried about inconveniencing the rest of their group, who were already in their seats, Moody said.
The staffer also refused to let them keep their hats in their bags, so the two women were forced to call the friend they carpooled with in order to put the hats back in their vehicle, she claimed.
Moody, however, made sure to snap a photo of herself in her MAGA gear with Citi Field in the background for “evidence” of the incident, she said.
Moody accused the venue of “political discrimination.”
“We are conservative people, we believe in tolerance. If I was wearing a BLM, Biden, Harris hate, they would have let me go through,” Moody scoffed.
With their offending hats safely stored in the car, Moody and her friend finally made it to their seats — only to realize that other members of their group who had entered separately from them had been allowed to keep their MAGA caps on.
“When I got into the venue, I did see at least eight MAGA hats,” she told The Post, adding she did not see any Kamala Harris or Joe Biden merch on display.
After the game, Moody said she tried to file complaints with multiple staff members, but was brushed off. Instead Moody said she was directed to an online complaint form.
As of Saturday afternoon, she had not heard back from Citi Field, she told The Post.
Wednesday’s incident only deepened Moody’s support for the Republican Party and Donald Trump, she added.
“I just want the American people to wake up,” she explained.
“We are on the verge of communism, a system that confiscates private property, a system that is against meritocracy, a system that indoctrinates people.
“I support President Donald Trump because he’s the people’s president. He is the only one who can save the United States of America from destruction from within by the Democrats and the radical left.”
One of Moody’s friends posted a similar message on Facebook alongside the photo of her outside of Citi Field before the game.
“Folks, I honestly don’t give a s–t if you despise Donald Trump. That is NOT what this is about!!! Is this the America that you want to live in?” the friend wrote.
Moody’s grievances with more liberal policies go back a few years: In 2021, she claims, she was terminated from her job as a social worker in the New York City school system because she refused to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
Over 900 Department of Education workers were fired by Mayor Eric Adams when they refused to get the jab, City Hall announced in 2022.
Citi Field did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for a comment on the allegations.
