Former President Donald Trump called Vice President Kamala Harris “too lazy” There were no campaign events on his schedule Tuesday, just two weeks before Election Day.
“She is sleeping right now. She couldn’t walk down the aisle,” Trump, 78, told a gathering of Latino supporters at his Miami-area golf resort.
Trump added, “You would think that when you have 14 days left, you wouldn’t be sleeping.”
“We’ve gone 52 days in a row, and I’m going to go 14 more days, and hopefully we’ll have a big victory party.”
Harris, 60, had no speech or public appearance at Tuesday’s event.
Daily press guidance provided by the Vice President’s office shows that he was scheduled to record two interviews; one with NBC’s Haley Jackson at 3:40 p.m. – which will then air on “NBC Nightly News” around 6:30 p.m. – and the other with Telemundo’s Julio Vaqueiro at 4:30 p.m.
Trump was scheduled to hold an evening rally in Greensboro, N.C., after departing Florida.
“I said, ‘Where is she campaigning today?’ ‘Sir, he’s got a day off,’ Trump said at the Latino-focused event.
“You have 14 days left for the presidency and she is taking a day off. This is not what you want.”
Trump repeatedly returned to Harris’ lighthearted program during the morning program.
He said, “I was going to hit her real hard on the trail today, but now I won’t have to because she’s gone – she’s gone.”
“I can’t get over it. Who takes leave when you have 14 days left? And she will also take a few more days off. Do you know why? Because he’s extremely lazy and he’s got that reputation,” he said.
Harris on Monday visited three swing states — Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin — with former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) in an effort to court suburban voters and disaffected Republicans.
On Wednesday, the veep will participate in an evening CNN town hall during the time originally set aside for the debate with Trump, who declined to participate.
The Harris campaign did not immediately comment.
With the Democratic nominee leaving the field on Tuesday, his surrogates have a busy day, with former President Barack Obama appearing in Wisconsin and Michigan, Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz holding two events in the Badger State, and President Biden meeting with Senator Bernie Sanders. Will join with. I-Vt.) for an event in New Hampshire.
