Former President Donald Trump took the stage at a massive rally Saturday in Coachella, deep blue California, and called the state a “lost paradise” because of Democratic politicians like Vice President Kamala Harris.
“Radical leftist democrats have destroyed this state, but we are going to save it. We’re going to make it better than ever before,” Trump told his supporters, many of whom braved 100-degree heat at the outdoor rally.
“We are not going to let (Harris) destroy our country like San Francisco,” Trump said to applause.
“This is paradise lost, but we will bring it back,” Trump said. He said, “Don’t worry about it, we’ll bring it back.” It will happen fast.”
He then waxed poetic about the great heights that California had once represented.
“Throughout generations of American history, California has stood as a beacon of what our country wants to be,” Trump said. “It had everything. It was the season. There was water in it. The state had the best schools, safest communities, and a growing middle class.
Trump said, “But all this ended with the same policies that Kamala Harris now wants to impose on America.”
“Today California has the highest inflation, highest taxes, highest gas prices, highest cost of living, most regulations, most expensive utilities, highest homelessness, highest crime, highest decay and the most illegal aliens. Trump added, “Other than that I think you’re doing pretty good.”
The Republican nominee tagged Harris as a bigot and emphasized her recent media flubs.
Harris said on The View on Tuesday that she would not change any decisions the Biden administration has made over the past four years. Trump has been playing a video compilation at his rallies that combines Harris’ remarks with news clips that recount the administration’s policy failures — including rising home prices and the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan.
The former president said, “Kamala Harris has got you into this trouble and only Trump can get you out of it, we will get you out of it.”
Trump also took aim at two of his other favorite California targets – Governor Gavin Newsom and Congressman Adam Schiff.
The 45th president called Newsom by his pet nickname, “Gavin Newscom” and labeled him “the worst governor in the country.”
Trump called Schiff, a California congressman and current Senate candidate, “really low-life” – calling on him to investigate the Russia collusion investigation, which Schiff led in Congress.
The last time a Republican presidential candidate won California was in 1988 – when then-Vice President George H.W. Bush took over from former California Governor Ronald Reagan.
Trump campaigned in the Golden State, even though it is far from a swing state. He got only 34 percent votes Voting in California in the 2020 presidential election And 31% votes in 2016.
Trump summarized, “With your vote I will act quickly and swiftly to save America and protect the people of California from Kamala Harris’s egregious failures.”
