Neeraj Chopra once again brought pride to the nation by winning another Olympic medal and securing a silver medal with a throw of 89.45 meters at the Paris 2024 Olympics. The gold was secured by Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem, who set an Olympic record with a 92.97m throw. However, considering Chopra’s struggles with injuries leading up to the Games, which forced him to miss several tournaments, finishing second is still a remarkable achievement.
At Tokyo 2020, Chopra made history as the first Indian track and field athlete to win an Olympic gold medal. His achievements extend beyond the Olympics—he is a two-time Asian Games gold medallist. He has also secured gold at the Commonwealth Games, Asian Championships, South Asian Games, and World Junior Championships.
In 2022, Chopra won a silver medal at the World Athletics Championships, becoming only the second Indian to win a medal. Additionally, he became the first Indian to claim the Diamond League trophy after winning the 2023 final in Zurich.
Being Neeraj Chopra, or any elite athlete, is far from easy, especially in the competitive world of athletics. These athletes dedicate countless hours to rigorous training and maintaining peak physical fitness.

Neeraj Chopra’s workout, designed by his coach Klaus Bartonietz, is tailored to meet the specific demands of javelin throwing. It focuses on exercises that enhance power, flexibility, and precision.
In a conversation with Curly Tales, Chopra revealed that he dedicates nearly eight hours daily in the gym and consumes 4,000 to 5,000 calories daily. Ishaan Marwaha, Chopra’s physio, was quoted by The Indian Express saying that the javelin thrower goes the extra mile to keep himself fit. “He is over-enthusiastic in training. It is not that I tell him you have to do 10 minutes and he will step down at 9 minutes and 50 seconds. It will always be 10 minutes or beyond 10 minutes. That makes him different from other athletes, you need that dedication level,” Marwaha said.
