Tyrese Gibson would like to let his fans know that he was not arrested earlier this week, but rather taken into custody, as he was put in handcuffs for failing to pay revised child support amounts.
“I am in good spirits and have full confidence in my legal team’s pursuit of justice,” Tyrese said in a statement provided to Us Weekly. “I was detained, not arrested, for less than two hours, and was released immediately after my attorney, Tanya Michelle Graham, filed a notice of intent to appeal with the clerk’s office just minutes after the judge’s ruling.”
Judge Kevin Farmer ordered the star to plead guilty to contempt of court and ordered him to pay $73,000 to avoid jail time. Earlier, a judge increased his payments from $2,200 a month to $10,690 a month. He is seeking help from the media.
At Fulton County Court, Tyrese allegedly refused to pay his ex-wife and was led out of the courtroom in handcuffs.
After being taken into custody, he accused the judge of “hating” him and alleged that the judge is “best friends” with the prosecution lawyer.
