Gibson reportedly argued with the judge over his refusal to pay $10,000 a month in child support.
Judge Kevin Farmer ordered Gibson to pay the monthly amount beginning in April 2023. When it became clear at Monday's hearing that Gibson had not paid, Judge Farmer held him in contempt, and he was led out of the courtroom in handcuffs by a bailiff, it is reported. TMZ,
According to TMZ, the judge reportedly told Gibson he could avoid jail time if he paid $73,000, including $7,500 for his ex-wife's attorney fees.
After the “Fast & Furious” actor was taken into custody, reporter Dennis Byrne posted on X from the courtroom that the star had “found the money” to pay his ex-wife.

Gibson posted on social media on Sunday night that he believed he could be arrested at court on Monday.
In a lengthy statement, which Gibson later deleted, the actor claimed Judge Farmer and his ex-wife were conspiring against him.
“We have been appealing all of his decisions and have tried twice to remove this judge from the bench,” he said. “The second time we tried to remove him from the bench. (He actually denied his request to be removed from the bench) … Imagine that???”
Gibson accused Judge Farmer of “illegally” going against his and Samantha's prenuptial agreement and increasing his child support payments, which he said were $3,600 a month to $10,690 a month, simply because the judge “felt like it.”
He said, “It is quite obvious that they hate me, but I must remind them and everyone else about my life and my success. I have worked hard since the age of 14 to get here.”
“#FamilyLawCourts are the worst towards fathers.”
Gibson also posted a 15-minute video on Instagram on Sunday in which she explained how gender plays a role in how the legal system is treating her.
“When you were born a male, you go into a courtroom and you clearly understand that there’s a preset menu that says, ‘You were born a male, screw you.’ That’s what the preset menu says,” Gibson said.
He further added, “I am laughing, smiling, enjoying my interviews. My energy and my enthusiasm have increased and I am quietly and silently fighting these attacks in a certain capacity.”
The star claimed Samantha's legal team is violating the “detailed and specific” prenuptial agreement they signed before their wedding in 2017 and is taking control of their existing financial records and assets.
“Why does Samantha's lawyer ask for all my bank statements? Why are they sending screenshots of my IMDB page?” he asked. “Leave me alone, man. I signed a prenuptial agreement for a reason.”
Gibson and Samantha welcomed their daughter Soraya in 2018. They announced their divorce in 2020.
