A young actor who rose to fame with the critically acclaimed film Baby Driver has died after falling from a moving vehicle.
Hudson Joseph Meek, 16, of Vestavia Hills, suffered serious injuries when he fell from a moving vehicle in the 1900 block of Canyon Road last Thursday around 10:45 p.m., according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.
Meek died from his injuries Saturday night at UAB Hospital.

According to his IMDB page, Meek was an established actor who played the younger version of the lead character in Baby Driver. He also made guest appearances on several television series, including the NBC drama Found.
A weekend post on his Instagram page read, “Our hearts are broken to announce that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight.” “His 16 years on this earth were very short, but he accomplished much and significantly impacted everyone he met.”
The post continued, “Specific details regarding the celebration of Hudson’s life to be held on December 28, as well as how to contribute to a scholarship in Hudson’s memory in lieu of flowers at Vestavia Hills High School, will be announced.”
Acting Out, a performing arts academy in Vestavia Hills, released the following statement regarding Meek’s passing:

The Vestavia Hills Police Department is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding Meek’s death.
