Van Morrison’s career is one that most musicians must envy. The singer-songwriter has been working steadily—and successfully—for well over a half-century. Many decades after he first produced hits, he’s still releasing music that the public cares about.
This week, Morrison returns to the top 10 on one chart with his latest release. The star’s Live at Orangefield debuts at No. 10 on the U.K.’s Official Album Sales list, which ranks the bestselling full-lengths and EPs in the country.
Morrison earns the fourth-loftiest start of the frame on the Official Album Sales chart. His new live recording comes in behind bestsellers from 86TVs, Personal Trainer, and Brigette Calls Me Baby, which all also debut inside the top 10.
In addition to the new arrivals, Morrison is also being beaten by several holdovers, which remain incredibly popular in the U.K. Blockbusters from Charli XCX, Taylor Swift, Teddy Swims, and Billie Eilish are present inside the top 10 once again. Newcomer Chappell Roan rules with her breakout project The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, which jumps to No. 1 this frame.
Live at Orangefield marks Morrison’s ninth trip to the top 10 on the Official Album Sales chart. He’s never managed to hit No. 1, though he has sent several titles into the upper half of the top 10. So far, he’s peaked at No. 3, in 2017, with Roll With the Punches.
Impressively, it hasn’t been very long since Morrison last appeared inside the highest tier on this tally. In November 2023, his Accentuate the Positive rose as high as No. 9. Just a month later, he returned to the list—though in a much lower position—with Moondance. That project only climbed to No. 84.
As it opens inside the top 10 on the Official Album Sales chart, Live at Orangefield also launches on two other tallies in the U.K. The live set nearly reaches the uppermost region on the Official Physical Albums ranking, where it kicks off its time at No. 12. Simultaneously, Morrison’s latest is new at No. 81 on the main, all-consumption albums chart in the U.K.
