Kamala Harris is doing a lot “Word salad” during his rare media interviews The Trump campaign openly wants her to do more, according to Republican vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance.
When asked about Harris's avoidance of media interviews during a rally in Leesport, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, Vance quipped, “Every time she does (an interview), I think we gain 100,000 votes.”
Harris's latest public speaking failure came during an event on Thursday. Star-studded virtual rally hosted by Oprah Winfrey.
She concluded with a two-minute monologue that left many listening confused, according to online commentators — including Winfrey, who said the powerful media mogul seemed “lost” and “unimpressed.”
“We love our country. I love my country. I know we all do, that's why everybody is here right now. We love our country. We – we're proud of the privilege of being Americans and this is a moment where we can come together as Americans and we should recognize that what we have is greater than what separates us,” Harris said, pausing and smiling.
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump also took aim at Harris' bizarre comments at a celebrity rally while addressing 10,000 of his supporters in Wilmington, NC on Saturday.
He said, “Kamala's performance was a total disaster yesterday and in every second interview her performance kept deteriorating… she cannot give any interview.”
During an interview with an ABC affiliate last week — her first solo media interview since becoming the Democratic presidential nominee — Harris also appeared to dodge questions and said little.
Harris made a number of embarrassing comments to Philadelphia-based Action News 6 anchor Brian Taff, including Taff's initial question about how she would lower prices in the United States.
“Well, I'll start with this: I grew up in a middle-class family. My mom raised my sister and me. She worked very hard,” Harris said, then turned to better options — but not the economy.
“I grew up in a neighborhood of people who took a lot of pride in their lawns, you know? And, I was raised to believe that all people deserve respect,” the vice president said.
She never explained how she would tackle inflation, but she did highlight her proposed policy Providing $25,000 in grant funding to new homeowners and providing tax breaks to new small businesses.
