These salad haters deserve to be thrown away.
A disgraced bride was left “utterly humiliated” at her own wedding when hungry guests ignored the expensive vegan dinner menu – and ordered pizza for delivery instead.
taking over redditThe emotionally distraught bride – whose message was revealed while crying in the bathroom – wrote that she and her husband spent “about $15,000” to create the menu. This came after months of collaboration with a chef to “prepare a delicious 5-course meal that was vegan.”
The 28-year-old said its offerings include mushroom Wellington, truffle risotto and roasted vegetable tart.
He wrote, “We deliberately did not write on the invitation that the meal was vegetarian because we wanted people to enjoy it without any prejudice.” “Each dish was designed to be delicious and satisfying regardless of dietary preference.”
However, not everyone was keen on the color green, including the bride’s 32-year-old brother, Tom.
“Twenty minutes later, I was horrified when he and my cousins came in with 20 large pizzas. He began distributing them to guests, declaring them ‘real food for anyone who wants it!’
“I was humiliated. The caterers seemed very embarrassed, and many guests had not even tasted our carefully planned menu yet.
The angry bride then confronted Tom, who shared messages sent to him by his aunt, complaining that “all the food is just vegetables.”
Naturally, Tom and family “couldn’t let people go hungry at the wedding.”
Meanwhile, the bride admitted that “the pizza completely overshadowed our expensive gourmet meal.”
“People were taking pictures and treating it as a joke. My mother-in-law posted on Facebook how her son’s wedding was ‘saved by pizza’ because the bride tried to ‘force everyone to eat rabbit food.'”
The evening ended with the bride bawling her eyes out in the bathroom, and her husband, 30, who also follows a plant-based diet, knocking out Tom and his cousins, pizza partners.
“This created a situation and now half the family is calling us trapped and saying we ruined our own marriage by imposing our beliefs on everyone else,” the bride wrote. “They’re saying we should have warned people about the vegetarian menu.”
In the comments of the post, people online did not favor the newlyweds – especially for weaponizing the element of surprise.
“Honestly, you didn’t tell anyone about the menu because you knew they wouldn’t like it if you did,” one wrote.
,[The original poster] This is why people have a negative attitude towards vegetarians,” added another.
