After the success of Pathaan and Tiger 3, Yash Raj Films has recently shifted its focus to their next project, War 2. The production banner aims to take their spy universe to a whole new level with this sequel, which marks the return of Hrithik Roshan as Major Kabir Dhaliwal, who is expected to undertake a new dangerous undercover mission to eliminate another threat to his country.
YRF’s spy universe started with Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif’s Ek Tha Tiger in 2012 and has grown exponentially in the past decade. In War (2019), Major Kabir Dhaliwal goes rogue after a secret mission to capture a terrorist goes awry. He then sets out on a mission to eliminate all the top officials who have been selling confidential information to the enemy. However, he is confronted by his former student Khalid (played by Tiger Shroff), who has been assigned to track and stop Kabir. What ensues next is a series of unexpected and action-packed events that keep the audience on the edge of their seats.
The sixth film in YRF’s spy universe, War 2, will continue to focus on Hrithik Roshan’s character, Major Kabir Dhaliwal, as he embarks on a new mission. Filmmaker Ayan Mukerji will take over the franchise from Siddharth Anand, who directed the first installment. The film will also feature Jr. NTR, one of the highest-paid Telugu film actors, in an important role, marking his debut in Hindi cinema. Kiara Advani also joins the YRF spy universe with the upcoming Ayan Mukerji directorial.
