“Swifites” will hit peak excitement as they see their idol, in the flesh, performing some of her biggest hits including Shake it Off, Cruel Summer, Lover, Red, August and Style.
As for the singer herself, a TikTok video has revealed what she would hear during her epic performances.
Some fans were stunned to learn that it is a metronome — a ‘ticking’ device used by musicians to keep time with the music — as well as a producer’s voice, counting her in and out of songs.
The video shows Swift performing her hit The Man as the metronome keeps her in time and as a producer counts her in and out.
“POV: You’re listening to Taylor Swift’s in-ear monitor,” the video was captioned.
It is so loud in stadiums that artists such as Swift rely on metronomes to improve timing and the ability to maintain the tempo of the song.
The importance of this was seen in one of her shows from August 2023 when her in-ear metronome failed.
Ever the professional, Swift went over to her guitarist, indicating with her hands that she couldn’t hear.
He appeared to count her into the song, Love Story, before assisting her throughout the song to stay on beat.
She was seen tapping her ear, signalling to sound technicians that the metronome had failed.
While artists rely heavily on the technology to hear the music, it surprised some fans on TikTok.
“Metronome? In her ear for three hours??” one said.
“People don’t realise how hard this is,” a second said.
“I would go insane trying to stop it 😭,” another said, as a fourth agreed: “This would drive me crazy listening to clicking for 3 hours straight”.
Meanwhile, others disagreed, commenting that it is “oddly comforting”.
“Why do I kind of like it,” another said.
“Oh my goodness I sort of love it,” a fan agreed.
