This is an attempt that did not succeed.
“Wheel of Fortune” contestant Vivian Tran lost the $1 million prize on Monday night's episode.
During the second week of Ryan Seacrest-hosted the long-running game show, Tran forgot to say a word during a puzzle.
“My heart is pounding, this is a first for me,” Seacrest, 49, said during the bonus round. “You're playing for $1 million.”
Tran also received a wild card for an extra letter.
Seacrest, who replaced host Pat Sajak following his retirement a few weeks ago, revealed that the show features a $1 million envelope instead of the usual $100,000 envelope.
Tran spun a small wheel that held envelopes and selected an envelope at random.
The puzzle category was “What are you doing?” and Tran chose the letters C, H, M, I and P.
“Wheel of Fortune” co-host Vanna White revealed the correct letters the player chose on the board, which prompted “_ …
Tran told Seacrest she was “nervous” before taking several guesses at the puzzle.
“Some looking for help? Some responding to help? Some looking for help? Some looking around for help? Extent of help?”
The answer to the “Wheel of Fortune” puzzle was: “Offer some help,” Tran became frustrated and emotional after missing the correct sentence.
Seacrest revealed that her envelope contained the coveted $1 million prize, and Tran immediately put her head in her hands.
Even though she missed out on winning the prize, her morale was still high and she managed to win $27,300 and a trip to Europe.
The caption underneath the clip on the official “Wheel of Fortune” read, “The stakes are already at an all-time high this season and it's only Week 2.” Instagram Account,
Fans flocked to the comments section to share their surprise at the loss, with one user writing, “I was literally shocked when Ryan told me he had the million,” while another added, “So close but Vivian you still did amazing!!”
After the show, the “Wheel of Fortune” player receives a Interview by Sajak's daughter Told Maggie what had happened.
Tran said her mother was skeptical about her appearing on the show, but she proved her mother wrong by winning the award and the earnings.
“It's been great, a little painful, but I'm grateful for the opportunity,” he said.
She further explained, “I remembered the last two words… but the first word… I didn't understand the syllables. It was 10 seconds, so when the eighth second came, I was like, 'Oops,' and I forgot it.”
But social media followers showed their support under the Instagram clip, with one fan writing: “Ouch! There's something about the word 'off' and having the top prize envelope… great job, Vivian!!”
“We wanted Vivian to walk away with a million dollars, but her performance tonight was amazing nonetheless,” Maggie wrote on her post.
The last “Wheel of Fortune” contestant to win the $1 million prize was in 2014. However, in October 2021, “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” alumnus Melissa Joan Hart won the jackpot during an episode of “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune.”
