Happy Amazon Prime Day to all who celebrate!
Amazon Prime Day is one of the biggest shopping events of the year, and this year, the big two-day sale falls on Tuesday, July 16 and Wednesday, July 17.
Prime Day typically takes on the same format every year: two full days of discounted deals for Prime members — which is just one of the many benefits of being a member.
It might seem like common sense to assume that Prime Day starts at midnight on July 16 and lasts a full 48 hours, but it’s important to remember that the sale runs on Pacific time.
Prime Day 2024 began July 16 at 12:00 a.m. Pacific time. Prime Day ends July 17 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific time, so east coasters have until about 3 a.m. on July 18 their time to shop the deals.
However, some deals during the shopping event are Lightning Deals: a promotion in which a limited number of discounts are offered on an item for a short period. These are one per customer and run until the promotion period for the deal ends or until all deals are claimed.
You can keep an eye on upcoming deals by visiting the Prime Day page and selecting “watch this deal.”
But even after Prime Day is officially over, be sure to keep an eye out for any lingering deals. Some markdowns are expected to keep the sale going.
Remember that in order to participate, you have to be a Prime member. Amazon Prime is a paid membership program for Amazon that offers benefits and discounts for shopping, entertainment and more.

It’s available to Amazon customers in various countries and gives its over 230 million members worldwide access to services otherwise unavailable to other Amazon customers or available at a premium — such as free two-day shipping, music, TV and movie streaming, and exclusive discounts.
