ex’s wife Interim NYPD Commissioner Tom Donlon A man found himself on the opposite side of the law on Monday night after allegedly driving with out-of-date insurance in Manhattan, according to sources.
According to sources and police, 62-year-old Deirdre O’Connor was arrested after being involved in a three-vehicle collision near the corner of East 53rd Street and First Avenue just before 5:40 p.m. and issued a summons for expired insurance. Released.
Police and sources said O’Connor was driving a 2019 white Honda CRV northbound on First Avenue when she was struck by another car, which fled.
The force pushed her car into the back of a 2020 black Toyota Sienna Uber that was carrying a 46-year-old man in a motorized wheelchair, police said. The man suffered back and neck injuries in the crash and was flown to NYU Langone Hospital in stable condition.
Both O’Connor and the 56-year-old Uber driver remained at the scene until officers arrived.
O’Connor was arrested at the scene of the accident on an insurance issue and brought to the 17th Precinct where he was issued a summons and released.
Donlon, 70, claimed when contacted by phone Monday night that he had “no knowledge” of his wife’s arrest.
Sources said he came down to the 17th Precinct station in person, but it was unclear whether he came down while his wife was there or after the Post spoke to him.
The driver who allegedly hit O’Connor is still at large.
Police said, investigation is ongoing.
O’Connor and Donlon’s relationship status is unclear. Each of them have different home addresses but they are listed as each other’s spouse as per available records.
Donlon, a former FBI officer, was the third NYPD Commissioner to serve under Mayor Eric Adams after the resignation of Edward Caban. Last month she was replaced by former NYC sanitation boss Jessica Tisch, 43, who took over as permanent commissioner of the country’s largest police force.
He currently serves as Senior Advisor for Public Safety at City Hall.
O’Connor did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
