A 32-year-old woman was struck and killed after jumping out of a moving Uber on the Long Island Expressway in Queens, police said.
Police said the woman fell from the back seat of a gray Volkswagen Fiat near the Kisena Boulevard exit in Flushing about 1:30 a.m. and was struck by another driver traveling eastbound, breaking her left leg. got hurt.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 44-year-old Uber driver, who remained at the scene, was not injured, police said.
All four eastbound lanes of the expressway were temporarily closed as the NYPD Highway Patrol investigated the horrific scene.
It is unclear why the passenger, whose name has not been released pending notification of family, jumped from the vehicle, and whether she was struck by other cars.
Police said the driver “inadvertently” hit the unidentified woman, but they are still searching for the person involved in the hit-and-run.
