Would-be robber hits 24-year-old man over head with glass bottle in broad daylight in NYC: Police


A would-be robber hit a 24-year-old man over the head with a glass bottle after he refused to hand over cash in a broad daylight attack in Brooklyn this week, police said.

Around 9 a.m. Monday, a stranger approached the victim near his home on Ditmas Avenue near East 2nd Street in Kensington and asked for money, authorities and sources said.

Police said that when the victim did not cough up any flour, the suspect became violent and hit him on the head with a bottle.

The attack left the victim with a fractured skull and was taken to Maimonides Medical Center, where he was reported to be in stable condition.

The robber, seen wandering around on the sidewalk in surveillance footage, fled empty-handed and was not captured until Tuesday.
