Let’s quickly recap: xo, kitty is a Netflix Original romantic comedy series created, written, and produced by Jenny Han. It is a spin-off of the popular for all the boys Film franchise, which had three films on Netflix.
The series follows teenage matchmaker Kitty Song Covey, who thinks she knows everything there is to know about love. But when she moves halfway around the world to reunite with her long-distance lover, she soon realizes that relationships are much more complicated when it comes to her heart.
XO, Kitty Season 2 Netflix Renewal Status
Just a month after the series premiere, Netflix officially confirmed on May 18, 2023 that the show would return, which was no surprise given its viewing figures.
The announcement was accompanied by a short video featuring Anna Cathcart (and some other cast members) holding a sign announcing that the show had been renewed:

Jenny Han is confirmed to return as showrunner for the new season along with Sasha G. Rothschild, who both also serve as executive producers. Hannah Stanbridge, Chris Martin, and Emily Kim serve as staff writers in the new season.

As you can see, the show had a strong first weekend and a good second weekend, but it dropped by over 50% between the second and third weeks.

Kitty has a lot in store for her in the second season. After moving to Korea to be closer to her long-distance boyfriend Day, Kitty finds herself having feelings for someone else, Yuri, by the end of the season.
However, before Kitty gets the opportunity to reveal her feelings for Yuri, she is interrupted by the appearance of Juliana, the girl Yuri is in love with. Instead of confessing her feelings, Kitty boards her plane back to America.
With her expulsion from KISS, Kitty believes she will never see Yuri again. Little does she know that Yuri is trying to convince his mother, Gina, to reinstate him. If Kitty is allowed to return to KISS, she will be reunited with Yuri.

When Kitty boards her plane, she is surprised to see Min Ho on the same flight. Upon learning from Kitty that she and Day are no longer together and that Kitty is returning to America, the young man has nothing to lose and confesses his feelings for her.
Kitty has feelings for Yuri, and she recently broke up with Dae, so even if she returns to KISS, it’s unlikely that she will reciprocate Min Ho’s feelings.

Who is Simon?
Gina gives Kitty a letter that her mother Eve wrote for her. After reading the letter, Kitty learns the name of the mysterious Simon, who may be her mother’s possible first love.
Hopefully Kitty will go back to Gina and question her about “Simon” and Gina’s friendship with her mother.
Will Day lose his place in KISS?
Day’s scholarship depends largely on his performance in school, and he is expected to be a top performing student. However, due to Florian cheating on his exam, Day lost the top rank. Unless Florian is caught, or Dae can improve his grades to the correct level, Dae’s scholarship at KISS is in grave danger.

In February 2024, we revealed that Netflix was looking for three new cast members for the upcoming season.
- Sophie – New series regular – Korean American teenage girl from Ohio – transfers at the last minute on an exchange program through her Korean church.
- mr choi – New series regular for Season 2 – Big talent manager funding a new art program at KISS – Described as handsome, charming, and narcissistic – Considered a ladies’ man
- Youth – Recurring guest star – Vets to become captain of the track team in Season 2 – Described as naturally competitive and queer – Serves as the main rival of one of the main characters.
Although we don’t think those cast members have been announced yet, Hollywood trades have announced three new cast members for the new season:
- Audrey Huynh ,anzbbgrl, wyrm) has been joined as a new series called Regular Stella
- Sasha Bhasin (Brave the darkness) will recur as Preveena
- joshua lee ,gangnam project) will also recur as Gin

Where is Season 2 in production?

Filming of the first season took place between March 28, 2022 and June 7, 2022. This means that the period between the start of filming and the show’s release was fourteen months.
Now, despite an early renewal, no work is being done on the show due to strikes by both the WGA and SAG-AFTRA. As you may know, the first is on strike from May 2023 and the second from July 2023. XO, Kitty It was one of dozens of Netflix projects currently being shelved due to the ongoing strikes.
On April 25, 2024 – Netflix and Trades confirmed that production on a new season of the show has begun. Then, a few months later, on June 26, 2024 – Netflix’s Golden Account confirmed that Filming of season 2 was completed,
