Why you gotta be so mean?
Jack Bryan allegedly got drunk and insulted Taylor Swift and her boyfriend Travis Kelsey on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday.
First, the 28-year-old country singer tweeted, “Eagles > Chiefs,” in reference to Kelce's NFL team.
Bryan then sided with Swift and Kanye West. age-old rivalry tweeting, “Kanye > Taylor.”
“Who's with me?” he concluded his post.
It's no surprise that Bryan faced immediate backlash from Swift's massive fan base.
On Wednesday, he deleted his ex's account and also apologized on Instagram Stories.
“For the record guys I was not coming for Taylor that night,” Bryan wrote alongside a screenshot of Taylor and Post Malone singing. “Fortnight.”
“I was drunkenly comparing two records and it came out wrong,” he continued. “I know there are a lot of things surrounding Ye that are blurred and I was speaking solely about the music. I love Taylor's music and I pray you guys know that I'm human and often tweet stupid things. Hopefully one day I can explain that to her.”
Bryan said, “Twitter gets me into a lot of trouble and I would say it's best to stay away from it. I apologize to all the Taylor fans I've upset or disappointed. I love you guys and I'm trying my best!”
Her next slide, which featured a screenshot of Swift's song “Albatross,” Bryan explained that he's “going through a tough time” in his life and that he was “reflecting that” when he tweeted about Swift.
“It was rude and insensitive to Taylor,” the “Sun to Me” singer said. “I respect her so much as a musician that I don't want people to think that I don't appreciate and like the work she does for music.”
He ended his message with, “Don't drink and tweet!”
Bryan shared a third post about Swift and said 14-time Grammy Award winner “It’s a force of nature since we’re growing up.”
“I appreciate this. I'm going to listen to this record now,” he wrote alongside a screen grab of Swift singing “The castles are crumbling” Which also features Paramore lead singer Hayley Williams.
“I never want people to think that I have any malice or meanness towards anyone, that's why I'm saying all this,” Bryan said.
As Bryan noted, Swift and West, 47, have been at odds since 2009, when they were infamously involved. On stage at the MTV Video Music Awards during Swift's acceptance speech and declared that Beyoncé had “one of the best videos of all time.”
