A Pennsylvania man fatally shot his girlfriend because he hated her new haircut, according to police.
Lancaster County authorities said Benjamin Garcia Gual was arrested Sunday afternoon on charges of murdering Carmen Martinez-Silva after he allegedly stalked her at her brother’s home in East Hempfield Township.
According to court documents, the victim’s daughter told police that Gual, 49, allegedly stabbed his 50-year-old girlfriend because he was upset that she had cut his hair. Reported by PennLive.
She claimed to investigators that he threatened to stab her mother over this, forcing Martínez-Silva to stay overnight at the daughter’s house.
The probable cause affidavit states that after leaving her daughter’s house, Martínez-Silva stopped at her brother’s house and asked another friend to tell Gual that the relationship was over.
Gual was not found at his mobile home, and instead went to Martínez-Silva’s brother’s house in an attempt to talk to his girlfriend.
The first time, the brother told the alleged killer that she was not there, but when he came back a second time a few minutes later, he allegedly started stabbing the siblings.
According to the affidavit, Martinez-Silva intervened and then her boyfriend allegedly began attacking her in a frenzy.
Police found Martínez-Silva dead at the scene, while his brother suffered multiple stab wounds. Two other people who were trying to stop the stabbing incident were nearly stabbed by the suspect, authorities said.
Police found Gual still in his car with a “knife in his hand” and blood on the weapon, according to the documents.
He is charged with murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault and reckless endangerment. WHTM reported.
He is being held in Lancaster Jail without bail.
