Bethenny Frankel criticized Kamala Harris for spending time “socializing with celebrities” during her campaign against Donald Trump.
In a video posted on Wednesday InstagramThe “Real Housewives of New York City” alum, who has not revealed who she voted for, explained why she didn’t think it was a “good idea” for Harris to “get involved with celebrities.”
“It was the most divisive election of my lifetime that I can remember, the stakes were so high on both sides that people couldn’t come to an opinion,” said Frankel, 54.
“It’s been like that for a while, but here it felt more obvious, you can’t form an opinion, no matter who you’re voting for. You can’t say that none of the candidates did something you didn’t like… something that wasn’t good business practice.”
He added, “Or something that was in bad taste, you can’t do that.”
“I really didn’t think it was a good idea to be associated with celebrities, and it was. I don’t think the American public generally cares who’s socializing with celebrities, it’s forbidden fruit, it’s flashy, it’s out there, it’s this shiny object.
The reality TV star added, “I don’t think it’s a working model, I’m allowed to have that opinion.”
Harris received endorsements from many celebrities during her campaign, including Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, John Legend, Jennifer Lopez, Katy Perry, Lizzo, Julia Roberts, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Harrison Ford, Lady Gaga, and Dick Van Dyke.
Many of those celebrities also attended Harris’ campaign rallies.
“I felt there were mistakes on both sides, but when I expressed an opinion, regardless of who I was voting for, I was attacked from both sides and attacked each other and There was a fight in the comments.”
Frankel encouraged Americans to come together after the election is over.
“We live in a democracy and people have spoken, decisions have been taken,” he said. “The country has to come together.”
