An Illinois woman won $1 million from a lottery ticket she bought at the supermarket – and which she had completely forgotten about.
The unidentified woman was shopping at a grocery store in Elmhurst, Illinois, on October 20 when she suddenly decided to pick up a lotto ticket, According to the Illinois Lottery,
“On my way to visit my aunt, I stopped at Jewel to pick up some groceries and before heading out the door, I grabbed a Quick Pick Lucky Day Lotto ticket,” the lucky lady told lottery officials.
She then put the ticket in her pocketbook and went on with her life – forgetting that she had any ticket.
According to Lotto officials, the woman matched all five numbers of that Sunday evening’s drawing – with the numbers 2-3-24-25-28. But till a few days later he did not realize that he had attacked his mother tongue.
“A few days after the drawing, I noticed the ticket in my purse and opened up my lottery app to scan my ticket and check if it was a winner,” the Illinois woman told the Illinois Lottery.
“I immediately saw “$1,000,000” on the screen and I was in complete shock. I scanned the ticket one more time to double-check, and when “$1,000,000” appeared on it again, I immediately started crying. I Thought, ‘This is incredible.’
The woman said she is extremely excited to be able to afford her annual trip to Ireland.
